Employer Sponsored Visa
Australia offers several employer-sponsored visa options for skilled workers who have a job offer from an Australian employer. Employer-sponsored visas are designed to address specific skill shortages in the Australian labor market. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the following mentioned the categories of employer-sponsored visa category.
Employer-Sponsored Visa Categories
The TSS visa allows skilled workers to come to Australia and work for an approved employer for up to four years.
There are three streams: Short-Term (up to 2 years), Medium-Term (up to 4 years), and Labor Agreement stream.
Requires sponsorship by an approved Australian employer and nomination for a skilled position.
The ENS visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers, requiring nomination by an approved Australian employer.
It consists of three streams: Temporary Residence Transition, Direct Entry, and Agreement.
The RSMS visa is designed to address labor shortages in regional Australia.
Similar to the ENS visa, it includes the Temporary Residence Transition, Direct Entry, and Agreement streams.
This visa replaced the RSMS visa in the Regional area. It requires employer sponsorship for skilled workers to live and work in regional Australia.
The visa is valid for up to five years and provides a pathway to permanent residency.
These streams are for applicants who have never, or only briefly, worked in Australia.
The Direct Entry stream requires a skills assessment and a formal nomination by an employer.
This program is part of the Global Talent visa scheme, allowing employers to sponsor highly skilled individuals in specific target sectors.
General Process
An Australian employer must become an approved sponsor and nominate the employee for a skilled position.
Some visas may require the employee to undergo a skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for their occupation.
The employee submits a visa application, including proof of skills, qualifications, and relevant documents.
The employer’s nomination must be approved before the visa application is finalized. Once the nomination is approved, and all criteria are met, the employee is granted the visa.
It’s crucial to check the latest requirements and procedures on the official website of the Australian Department of Home Affairs, as immigration policies may change. Additionally, seeking advice from a registered migration agent can help navigate the complexities of the application process.
